Tomnahurich Swing Bridge

An electrically-operated single-ended swing bridge that conveys the A82 Trunk Road over the Caledonian Canal 1¼ miles (2 km) southwest of Inverness city centre, the Tomnahurich Swing Bridge was built by Sir William Arrol & Co. in 1937-38, replacing a double-sided swing bridge dating from 1816. The Muirtown Swing Bridge, which crosses the canal 1¼ miles (2 km) to the north, is identical.
