Wether Hill Wind Farm

A modest collection of turbines draped across Wether Hill and Cornharrow Hill in N Dumfries and Galloway, Wether Hill Wind Farm lies 6 miles (10 km) west northwest of Moniaive and 8 miles (13 km) east of Carsphairn. Opened in 2007 in the presence of children from the primary schools in both of these villages, it comprises 14 Siemens turbines, each generating 1.3 megawatts (MW), providing a total power output of 18.2 MW. The wind farm is run by the utility company Scottish Power, based in Glasgow, now part of a multi-national energy group.
