Loch na Faoilinn

One of a significant group of reservoirs, known as the Glen Clachaig Feeder Reservoir System, in the Knapdale Forest of Argyll and Bute, which were built to supply water to the Crinan Canal. Loch na Faoilinn is retained by an L-shaped earth embankment dam on its northwestern side. The reservoirs were named in 1814 by the engineer Hugh Baird (1770 - 1827) and are now managed by Scottish Canals. The loch supports a recreational fishery for brown trout.
