Corrour Bothy

An isolated mountain bothy in upper Glen Dee, the Corrour Bothy lies beneath Coire Odhar, which connects Cairn Toul with The Devil's Point in W Aberdeenshire. The bothy was built in 1877 to house a deer-stalker who 'watched' the Red Deer belonging to the Mar Estate. Having fallen from use in the 1920s, the bothy began to be used by hill-walkers and was reconstructed by members of the Cairngorm Club in 1949. A wooden extension was added in 2006 to house a composting toilet. The building is now maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association.
