Beldorney Castle

A 16th-century Z-shaped castle, Beldorney Castle lies west of the River Deveron in NW Aberdeenshire, close to the border with Moray, 6 miles (10 km) west of Huntly and a similar distance east of Dufftown. Originally a strong-hold of the Ogilvies, the castle has passed through the hands of the Gordon, Lyon, Buchan and Grant families. It was modernised in the 19th century and restored in the 20th century and remains in domestic use.
