Princess Helena's Cairn

One of a collection of grand commemorative cairns within the policies of Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Prince Helena's Cairn is located on the southern slopes of Craig Gowan, a half-mile (0.8 km) west southwest of Easter Balmoral. This conical rubble-built cairn was built to celebrate the marriage of Princess Helena to Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein on the 5th July 1866. Helena was Queen Victoria's third daughter.
