Dean Castle

Located a mile (1.5 km) north of Kilmarnock town centre, East Ayrshire, Dean Castle comprises a 14th century Keep and 15th century Palace with dungeon, battlements and banqueting hall, all of which have been accurately restored. The ancestral home of the Boyd Family, the castle houses a collection of arms, armour and mediaeval musical instruments. There are also tapestries and some artefacts associated with Robert Burns (1759-96).

The castle formed a filming location for the Sony Pictures time-travel fantasy television series Outlander (2016).
