Baird Institute Museum

Located within the town of Cumnock in East Ayrshire, the Baird Institute Museum has an eclectic collection of exhibits, ranging from displays of Mauchline Box Ware and Cumnock Pottery to exhibits on the social and industrial history of the Cumnock and Doon Valley area. A room within the building is dedicated to James Keir Hardie (1856 - 1915), the founder of the Labour Party. There is also an archive of photographs, audio-visual materials, books, maps and newspapers.

The Baird Institute opened in 1891 to provide leisure facilities for local people and included a museum, billiard room and reading rooms.
