Bishopton Station

Bishopton Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Baile an Easbaig) lies on the Inverclyde Line in Renfrewshire, situated a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west southwest of Rossland and a half-mile (1 km) south southeast of the centre of Bishopton. It opened in 1841 and went on to serve the Royal Ordnance Factory built adjacent during the First World War and rebuilt in the 1930s. Comprising two platforms and a sandstone station-house featuring prominent crowstepped gables, the station is now operated by ScotRail. It is staffed part-time and is used by 621,054 passengers per annum (2016-17). It is preceded by Langbank Railway Station, 3¾ miles (6 km) to the west northwest, and followed by Paisley St. James, 4½ miles (7 km) to the south southeast.
