The Queen's Well

Located in Glen Mark, which lies at the head of Glen Esk, and to the north of Loch Lee is the Queen's Well. This unusual crown-shaped monument was built over a natural spring in 1861 in honour of Queen Victoria. After staying at the nearby Invermark Lodge, Victoria and her husband Prince Albert are said to have stopped here to drink before travelling on to their home at Balmoral Castle.
