Glen Finglas Reservoir

A reservoir retained by a gently-curving concrete gravity dam in Stirling Council Area, Glen Finglas Reservoir is located a mile (1.5 km) north northwest of Brig o' Turk and 6 miles (10 km) west of Callander. Although planned from the early years of the 20th century, the reservoir was not actually built until 1963-65, the last phase of the Glasgow Corporation Water Works Loch Katrine scheme. It is now operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water and covers an area of 127.9 ha (316 acres). Located at the south end of the reservoir, the dam is 219m (720 feet) in length and reaches a maximum height of 35m (115 feet). There is a small hydro-electric power station incorporated at the base of the dam with a power output of 460 kW.
