Livishie Power Station

An underground power station which forms part of the Garry-Moriston Hydro-Electric Power Scheme, Livishie lies to the north of the Dundreggan Reservoir, 4 miles (6.5 km) west of Invermoriston. It is accessed via a portal next to the Allt Iarairidh. Commissioned in 1962, this was one of the last power stations to by built by the North of Scotland Hydro Electric Board. It draws water from underground aqueducts and tunnels, with a head of 259m (850 feet) generating 15 MW of power. The water is discharged via a tailrace into the Dundreggan Reservoir. The station was refurbished in the late 1990s. The station is now operated by Scottish & Southern Energy Plc.
