Murieston House

Murieston House is situated within 3 ha / 7.4 ha of wooded parkland in the suburban
district of Murieston in Livingston (West Lothian). Originally at the centre of an estate, Murieston remains a private home. It was built c.1800 as the country seat of Henry Jamieson, a banker in Edinburgh. Comprising a neat two-storey five-bay classical mansion in buff ashlar, the central bay stands proud of the others and is capped with a pediment. The entrance is cream-coloured and pilastered. There is a single-storey wing to the right of the house, and an addition (1855) to the rear. The interior retains fine period features, including a wood-panelled library, and nine bedrooms. The house was B-listed in 1971.
