A roadside monument situated on Rocksley Drive in Boddam (Aberdeenshire), the RAF Buchan Boddam Statue was unveiled on 24th September 2009 to commemorate the links between the local community and the Royal Air Force, who had operated a radar early-warning station here. The staff were withdrawn from RAF Buchan in 2005, leaving the equipment remotely-controlled from England. Created by sculptor Walter Awlson of Alloa (b.1949), the monument comprises the upper body of a Royal Air Force airman in bronze mounted on a plinth of pink granite.
The inscription states:
A tribute from the people of Boddam to the men and women who served at Royal Air Force Buchan 1952 - 2005 Boddam Community Association 2009
