Located behind an unusual red sandstone facade on George Street in central Dumfries, St. George's Church forms part of the established Presbyterian Church of Scotland. Built as a Free Church in 1843-44, the Classical ashlar facade, featuring a panelled parapet and large urns, was created as part of a remodelling by James Halliday in 1892-3. The lavish interior painting scheme from the same time has unfortunately not survived.
