Kyle Centre

(The Kyle Shopping Centre)

On the west side of the High Street, in part hidden behind the existing facades, the Kyle Centre is the principal shopping centre in Ayr town centre (South Ayrshire). Completed in 1987, the architects were London-based Sheppard Robson, assisted by the local company Cowie, Torry & Partners. The Centre comprises 27 individual units extending to 8825 sq. m (95,000 sq. feet) of prime retail space and a food court with seating for 250 people which was developed in 2011. There are 440 car parking spaces nearby. The original facades include work by James McDerment (1862), John Murdoch (1884), William Kerr (1894), J. & H.V. Eaglesham (1904), William Cowie (1904) and Murdoch & Lockhart (1909).
