Arnish Moor Wind Cluster

(Arnish Moor Wind Farm)

Located alongside the B897 road, which crosses Arnish Moor to Grimshader, on land owned by the Stornoway Trust, the Arnish Moor Wind Cluster lies 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Stornoway in the Western Isles. Commissioned in 2007, it comprises three 1300 kW Nordex N60 turbines, giving a total power output of 3.9 MW, mounted on towers 46m (151 feet) in height and with a rotor diameter of 60m (197 feet). The facility is operated by Wind Prospect. The turbine towers were built at the nearby Arnish Point Fabrication Yard and the turbines were delivered by ship. Groundwork was the responsibility of R.J. McLeod (Contractors) Ltd., while electrical work was completed by Scottish Hydro Contracting.
