A fishing pond created in an old quarry, Parkly Fishery is located on the northern slopes of Nancy's Hill, one of the Bathgate Hill, situated 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Linlithgow. Linlithgow Town Council bought the land from the Shanks family of Parkley Place Farm in 1926 to provide whinstone for road-making. It operated for around 20 years, but water ingress was always a problem. It was thus decided to use it as a drinking-water reservoir for the town, which extended to 0.94 ha (2.4 acres) and contained 45.5 million litres (10,000,000) gallons of water. The reservoir fell from use when a new water supply came to Linlithgow and it was bought back by its former owners in 1976, who decided to convert it into a commercial fishery in 1993.
Both bank and pontoon fishing is provided, using live-bait and fly, with two areas separated by a narrow access road. The pond is stocked with rainbow trout and occasional brown trout the descendants of fish released into the quarry from the nearby Haugh Burn in 1965.
