Greenfaulds Railway Station

(A' Bhuaile Ghlas)

Greenfaulds (Gael: A' Bhuaile Ghlas) is the second railway station in the New Town of Cumbernauld, located only a half-mile (1 km) southwest of the town's main station. It opened on the 15th May 1989 and is preceded by Gartcosh Railway Station, 5 miles (8 km) to the southwest, and followed by Cumbernauld, a half-mile (1 km) to the northeast. The line was electrified 2013-14 as part of the Edinburgh-Glasgow improvement programme. Operated by ScotRail, Greenfaulds is unstaffed and is used by around 130,000 passengers annually (2014). Services run between Falkirk Grahamston and both Glasgow Queen Street and Central stations. Greenfaulds benefits from a Park-and-Ride facility.
