Victoria Bridge

A footbridge crossing the River Teviot between Bath Street and Teviot Crescent in Hawick, the Victoria Bridge was built in 1991. It curves gently over the river with a central masonry support, a style of bridge used elsewhere in the town except that light standards rise from the parapet. The original Victoria Bridge was built in 1851 but replaced by a cast-iron structure in 1873, which was washed away in the Great Flood of 1938 and rebuilt the following year.
