A busy suburban railway station in Glasgow, Anniesland (Gael: Fearann Anna) is located 3 miles (5 km) northwest of the city centre. It was opened by the former North British Railway in 1874. It is the terminus of the Maryhill Line from Glasgow Queen Street, but on the North Clyde / Argyle Line is preceded by Hyndland Railway Station, a half-mile (1 km) to the south southeast, and followed by Westerton, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the north northwest. Operated by ScotRail, Anniesland Railway Station is staffed part-time and is used by 998,824 passengers per annum (2009-10).
