Ardrossan Town Station

The oldest of three stations that serve Ardrossan in North Ayrshire, Ardrossan Town Railway Station (Gael: Baile Àird Rosain) is located on a branch of the Ayrshire Coast Line between Ardrossan South Beach Railway Station and Ardrossan Harbour Station. Ardrossan Town opened in 1831 on the Ardrossan Railway, which became part of the Glasgow and South Western Railway in 1854. Now operated by ScotRail, it is unstaffed and is used by 18,568 passengers per annum (2009-10). It is preceded by Ardrossan Harbour Railway Station, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the west, and followed by Ardrossan South Beach, a similar distance to the east northeast.
