Bellshill Railway Station (referred to in Gaelic as Cnoc a' Chluig) services both the Argyle Line and the Shotts Line, and lies just to the southwest of the centre of Bellshill in North Lanarkshire. This station was opened in 1879 on the former Cleland and Midcalder Line. It comprises two platforms, linked by an overbridge, and a modern ticket office with a red corrugated aluminium roof. Today, the station is operated by ScotRail, is staffed part-time and was used by 879,462 passengers per annum in 2016-17, a substantial increase from 581,130 users in 2009-10. There was once another railway station serving Bellshill, located to the northwest of the town, but this closed in 1951.
Bellshill is preceded by Uddingston, 2½ miles (4 km) to the west northwest, beyond the junction with the West Coast Main Line. On the Argyle Line, it is followed by Motherwell Railway Station, 2¼ miles (3.5 km) to the south southeast. The next station on the Shotts Line is Holytown, a similar distance to the east.
