Bishopbriggs Railway Station

(Drochaid an Easbaig)

A busy railway station in East Dunbartonshire, Bishopbriggs (referred to as Drochaid an Easbaig in Gaelic) is located on the Croy Line, in the town centre, a half-mile (1 km) northwest of Auchinairn. It opened in 1842 on the Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway. The original buildings have been demolished and replaced with a modern ticket office and waiting room. Now operated by ScotRail, Bishopbriggs Station is staffed part-time and is used by more than 750,000 passengers each year (2016). It is preceded by Glasgow Queen Street Railway Station, 3 miles (5 km) to the south southwest, and followed by Lenzie, a similar distance to the east northeast.
