A railway station on the North Clyde Line in West Lothian, Blackridge (referred to in Gaelic as An Druim Dubh) is located at Westrigg, a half-mile (0.8 km) east of the centre of Blackridge. The original Blackridge Station (known as Westcraigs) was opened by Bathgate & Coatbridge Railway in 1862, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) southeast of the village. This station closed in 1956 when passenger service was withdrawn from the line, and the line closed completely in 1982. Initial plans for restoring the Airdrie-Bathgate link did not include a station here, but after a local campaign a new station was constructed at a cost of £4 million, a half-mile (0.8 km) east northeast of the original and this opened with the new line in 2010. Operated by ScotRail, Blackridge Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by 56,894 passengers i 2016-17. It is preceded by Armadale Railway Station, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) to the east, and followed by Caldercruix, 5 miles (8 km) to the west.
