Croftfoot Railway Station


(Bun na Croite)

A suburban railway station on the Newton Branch of the Cathcart Circle Line, Croftfoot (known in Gaelic as Bun na Croite) is located a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southwest of Bankhead (South Lanarkshire) and a half-mile (1 km) east of Kings Park (Glasgow City). Opened by the London, Midland & Scottish Railway in 1931, the station is now operated by ScotRail. It is staffed part-time and was used by 229,346 passengers in 2016-17, representing a considerable increase in usage from 169,136 passengers per annum in 2009-10. It comprises an island platform and is preceded by Burnside Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the east, and followed by King's Park, a half-mile (1 km) to the west.
