Dumbarton East Railway Station


(Dùn Breatann an Ear)

One of the three railway stations in Dumbarton (West Dunbartonshire), Dumbarton East (Gael: Dùn Breatann an Ear) is located on the North Clyde Line, a half-mile (0.8 km) east southeast of the town centre. This station was opened in 1896 by the Lanarkshire & Dunbartonshire Railway. It is preceded by Bowling Railway Station, 2½ miles (4 km) to the east southeast, and followed by Dumbarton Central, a half-mile (1 km) to the west northwest. Operated by ScotRail, Dumbarton East Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by 355,904 passengers per annum (2009-10). Dumbarton Castle is located a half-mile (0.9 km) to the southwest.
