A neat little halt in a picturesque setting on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line, Duncraig Railway Station (Gael: Dùn na Creige) lies on the southern shore of Loch Carron, opposite Plockton and 1½ miles (2.5 km) north northeast of Achnandarach in Highland. It was built in 1897 by the Highland Railway Company as a private stop for Duncraig Castle, seat of Sir Alexander Matheson (1805-86), but was later opened for public use. Now operated by ScotRail, Duncraig Halt is unstaffed. It is a request stop and was used by only around 500 passengers in 2015. The station and its unusual octagonal shelter are now B-listed. The approach by road is through the seemingly-private policies of the castle. It is preceded by Stromeferry Railway Station, 3½ miles (5.5 km) to the east northeast, and followed by Plockton, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the west.
