Giffnock Railway Station

A busy suburban railway station on the East Kilbride branch of the Glasgow South Western Line in East Renfrewshire, Giffnock (known as Giofnag in Gaelic) is situated on Station Road in the town centre, a half-mile (1 km) east of Thornliebank. It opened in 1866 and on the former Busby Railway and comprises two platforms connected by a pedestrian overbridge. Operated by ScotRail, Giffnock Railway Station is staffed part-time and is used by around 330,000 passengers per annum (2015). It is preceded by Thornliebank Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the northwest, and followed by Clarkston, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the south southeast.
