Kilwinning Railway Station

(Cill D'Fhinnein)

Kilwinning Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Cill D'Fhinnein) lies on the Ayrshire Coast Line in North Ayrshire, immediately to the south of Kilwinning Junction, a half-mile (0.8 km) west northwest of the town centre.

This station opened on the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock & Ayr Railway in 1840. It comprises four platforms; two on the line to Ayr and two on a branch to Largs, with traditional station buildings between. It is preceded by Dalry, 3½ miles (5.5 km) to the north, and followed by Irvine Railway Station, a similar distance to the south southeast on the route south to Ayr and by Stevenston Railway Station on the Largs branch.

Operated by ScotRail, Kilwinning Railway Station is staffed part-time and was used by 1,017,126 passengers per annum in 2016-17.
