Maxwell Park Railway Station

(Pàirc Maxwell)

A picturesque two-platform suburban railway station on the Cathcart Circle Line, Maxwell Park (given the name Pàirc Maxwell in Gaelic) lies between Pollokshields and Crossmyloof in Glasgow. This station opened in 1894 with the western arm of the Cathcart District Railway. The B-listed station building is unique; a double-height version of others on this line, with slated roof and canopies on all sides, sitting on an island platform, but connected to overbridges which link to Terregles Avenue and Maxwell Park, to the north, and Fotheringay Road to the south.

Now operated by ScotRail, Maxwell Park Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by 178,230 passengers per annum (2016-17). It is preceded by Shawlands Railway Station, a half-mile (1 km) to the south southwest, and followed by Pollokshields West, a similar distance to the east.
