Plockton Railway Station

(Am Ploc)

Plockton Railway Station (Gael: Am Ploc) lies on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line of the Highland Railway, a half-mile (1 km) southwest of the centre of the village and a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southeast of Plockton Aerodrome, next to Plockton High School. The station opened in 1897. The picturesque B-listed station building has been sold to become a private home. Operated by ScotRail, Plockton Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by around 11,500 passengers per annum (2015). Plockton is preceded by Duncraig Railway Station, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the east, and followed by Duirinish, a similar distance to the southwest.
