Summerston Railway Station

(Baile Samhraidh)

Summerston Railway Station (Gael: Baile Samhraidh) lies on the suburban Maryhill Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) south of Summerston and a half-mile (1 km) north of Maryhill in Glasgow City. Operated by ScotRail, Summerston Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by around 150,000 passengers per annum (2016). This station opened in 1993, one of five built to permit the reintroduction of suburban passenger services on a line which otherwise just connected Glasgow Queen Street Station to the West Highland Line. The line was opened as part of the Glasgow, Dumbarton, and Helensburgh Railway in 1858. It is preceded by Gilshochill Railway Station, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the east southeast, and followed by Maryhill, a similar distance to the west.
