Kilchattan Church

Kilchattan Church is a simple white-harled rectangular building at Achafolla, in the centre of Luing in the Inner Hebrides. Dating from 1936, it was constructed as a parish mission church, but is now only place of worship on the island. The church houses a beautifully-carved wooden lectern and two wooden offering plates donated by Latvian ship owners to mark the rescue efforts of the islanders when one of their ships foundered in a storm on the island of Belnahua in 1938. A war memorial lies opposite, while Luing Primary School is situated a short distance to the north.
