Kilmarnock Cemetery

A large cemetery on Grassyards Road in E of the town, Kilmarnock Cemetery was laid out 1873-75 by local architect Alexander Adamson and extended in the 1930s to cover a total area of 13.5 ha (33.3 acres).

The B-listed gate lodge and entrance arch are constructed in red sandstone and heavily Scots Baronial in style, with crowstepped gables, crenellations, rainwater spouts and pepperpot towers, featuring conical fishscale-slated roofs, flanking the 4.2-m / 14-foot high arched gateway.

The cemetery is owned and managed by East Ayrshire Council.
