A modern railway station located on the Aberdeen-Inverness Line at Tavelty, a half-mile (0.8 km) north of the village of Kintore in Aberdeenshire. Known in Gaelic as Ceann Tòrr, this station opened in 2020, but the original Kintore Station lay a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the south southeast and operated from 1854 until 1964, when it closed as part of the Beeching rationalisation of the British railways, which also reduced the line to single-track. The new station was proposed in 2009, to meet demand from the growing village of Kintore that had more than doubled in size in a decade. Capacity on the line was increased by redoubling of the track 2016-19 and construction of the station began in 2019 by the Anglo-Dutch group BAM Nuttall. It cost £15 million, funded by Transport Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council and Nestrans, the local transport partnership tasked with developing transport improvements across in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Kintore Railway Station has two platforms linked by a footbridge and passenger lifts, a waiting room and a 168-space car park. It is operated by ScotRail and is unstaffed. The preceding station is Dyce and the following is Inverurie Railway Station, with travel times into Aberdeen of less than 20 minutes.
Inverurie and District Men's Shed restored a pair of nameplates and two bench seats that once stood in the original Kintore Station for use in this new station.
