Susan McCallum Monument

An unusual memorial located between the A830 trunk road and the West Highland Railway Line in Arisaig in the West Highlands, the Susan McCallum Monument was erected in 1890 to commemorate a well-respected local landlady. Looking like a small sentry box and surrounded by iron railings, it is located beneath Creag a' Challtainn, a half-mile (1 km) northeast of Lochailort and ¾ mile (1.2 km) west northwest of the western end of Loch Eilt.

The inscription records:

"Erected by her friends to the memory of Susan McCallum, for 17 years landlady of Kinlochailort Inn. Well done good and faithful servant. 1890".
