Swallow Theatre

Comprising a converted byre at Moss Park, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) northwest of Whithorn, the Swallow Theatre represents itself as Scotland's smallest, with fifty seats. It opened in 1996 and now offers a programme of drama, music (classical, folk and jazz), poetry and play readings, together with 'theme nights'. The building retains its agricultural character, white-washed and with a corrugated roof. The theatre was the creation of Jill and David Sumner, who bought Moss Park in 1990. They began with readings for friends and a small invited audience. The theatre remains privately owned and operated.
