Waulkmill Glen

A small wooded valley which descends through the Dams to Darnley Country Park crossing the boundary between East Renfrewshire and Glasgow City, Waulkmill Glen lies between Barrhead and Newton Mearns. It contains the Brock Burn and its upper section is now flooded beneath the Waulkmill Glen Reservoir. In 1986, the glen was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) owing to its carboniferous geology - a section includes the best outcrop of the upper limestone formation in Central Scotland.
