Middleton Wind Farm

Middleton Wind Farm is a small development in East Renfrewshire, lying to the northwest of the B769 road and immediately to the west Harelaw Dam and Long Loch, 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Newton Mearns. It comprises six Gamesa G80/2000 turbines, each with an output of 2 MW, giving a total generating capacity of 12 MW. Each turbine is mounted on a 60-m / 197-foot tower, has an 80m (262 foot) blade diameter and a total height to blade tip of 100m (328 feet). The turbines weigh 206 tonnes (including the tower and blade).

The farm was developed by RWE npower Renewables at a cost of £23 million but is now owned and operated by Scottish Power Renewables. It was officially opened on 4th September 2013 by East Renfrewshire Council Provost Alistair Carmichael.
