McEwan Hall and Bristo Square, Edinburgh

A small piazza in S Central Edinburgh, Bristo Square is part of the University of Edinburgh's campus, lying a half-mile (1 km) south of the city centre. Making a connection between the McEwan Hall, Teviot Row Union and the rather stark Potterrow Student Centre the square is open to public access, although somewhat despoiled by numerous skate-boarders. The square was developed by the University in celebration of its tercentenary and opened in 1983 by Principal John Burnett.
