Una McLean


1930 -

Actress and comedienne. Born in Strathaven, McLean was educated in Larkhall (South Lanarkshire), followed by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. She began her professional career at the Byre Theatre (St. Andrews) in 1955 and joined the Citizen's Theatre (Glasgow) in 1959. Although McLean has had considerable success as a dramatic actress and in musicals throughout her career, she is perhaps best known for her pantomime appearance with the likes of Stanley Baxter (b.1926) and for her comedy.

She has appeared in the films Emily (1977) and The Debt Collector (1999), with Billy Connolly, Annette Crosby, Ford Kiernan and Jimmy Logan.

McLean married another Scottish actor, Russell Hunter (1925 - 2004), in 1991.
