Rock singer and half of The Proclaimers with his twin brother Craig. Born in Leith, the twins were brought up in Auchtermuchty. They formed the Proclaimers in 1983, and built up an enthusiastic fan-base in the pubs of Edinburgh and Inverness. Their hits include the rousing anthem Letter from America (1987) and I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) (1988), which appeared on million-selling albums such as This is the Story (1987) and Sunshine on Leith (1988). Their music has also appeared in numerous films, such as Dumb and Dumber and in advertisements.
