Graeme Randall


1975 -

Judo champion. Born in Edinburgh, where he completed his degree in Physical Education at the University of Edinburgh, Randall went on to become the first Scot to win a gold medal in the Judo Competition at the Commonwealth Games, held in Manchester (2002).

Randall began learning Judo at the age of 13 and by 15 he was awarded his black belt. He won a bronze at the 1994 world junior championships. He has been a member of the British Olympic team twice (in 1996 and 2000) and took first place in the 1999 World Championships.

Randall lives with his wife and family in Bonnyrigg (Midlothian). He was one of six athletes who carried the Commonwealth Flag into Celtic Park during the opening ceremony for the XXth Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow (2014).
