Lorraine McIntosh


1964 -

Singer and actress. Born in Glasgow, McIntosh joined the band Deacon Blue in 1987 as a vocalist. The band had been formed by Ricky Ross (b.1957) in Glasgow in 1985, comprised Ross, Graeme Kelling (1957 - 2004) on guitar, keyboard player Jim Prime (b.1960), bass guitarist Ewan Vernal (b.1964) and Dougie Vipond (b.1966) on drums.

McIntosh contributed to several successful Deacon Blue albums including When The World Knows Your Name (1989), Ooh Las Vegas (1990), Fellow Hoodlums (1991), Whatever You Say, Say Nothing (1993), Walking Back Home (1999) and Homesick (2001). By the late 1980s the band was one of Scotland's best-known acts. The band split in 1994 but re-formed five years later.

McIntosh married Ross in 1990. She went on to concentrate on acting, beginning with a role in the Ken Loach film My Name Is Joe. She joined the BBC Scotland soap River City in 2002, playing Alice Henderson.
