Anne McKevitt

1970 -

Interior designer and entrepreneur. Born and raised in a council house in Thurso, McKevitt left school at fifteen with no qualifications. Yet, by the age of 23 she had moved to London and created a multi-million pound business. She came to public notice as an interior designer on the BBC television series Home Front. This was followed by Home Front in the Garden and several shows for the US networks which, together with successful merchandising, have left her as one of the highest-earning British exports to America. Her books include Style on a Shoestring (1997) and Designer Know How (2001).

Recognised as one of 'the 500 most powerful Britons' by the Sunday Times, her designs have won prizes including The Guardian's Best Home in Scotland and Best Home for the Future in the UK, together with awards from the Saltire Society and the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.

Today her AMI group has offices in London, New York and Sydney and she is a noted motivational speaker.
