Musician. Born in Partick (Glasgow), McCredie began as a salesman, but appeared on the television talent show Opportunity Knocks as a member of a band called Los Caracas, along with his brother Ian, vocalist Sally Carr and drummer Ken Andrew. The band later changed its name to Middle of the Road and, with McCredie singing and playing bass-guitar, achieved a chart-topping hit in 1971 with the song Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. The band had further hits, including Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum and Soley Soley, before separating in 1976. They briefly reformed in 1991.
McCredie died in Glasgow.
