William Chadwell Mylne

1781 - 1863

Engineer. He was born in London into a notable Scottish family of architects and builders, the son of Robert Mylne (1733 - 1811), with whom he worked on the Gloucester and Berkeley Ship Canal. He succeeded his father as Engineer to the New River Company in 1811 and this ensured his name was principally associated with the supply of drinking water to London. He was also responsible for St. Mark's Church in Clerkenwell and advised on a water-works for Glasgow.

He died at his home in Great Amwell (Hertfordshire).
