Paul Coia


1960 -

Broadcaster. Born in Glasgow, Coia was educated at St. Aloysius' College and the University of Glasgow. He began his broadcasting career with the Glasgow Hospital Broadcasting Service before joining Radio Clyde in 1981, a role which earned him Scottish Radio Personality of the Year. He became a continuity announcer for Scottish Television and was soon given his own chat show Meet Paul Coia. He joined Channel 4 Television for their launch in 1982 and was the first voice to be heard on that channel. Further television work with the BBC including the gameshow Catchword, The Holiday Programme, Pebble Mill at One, The Enemy Within, Garden Party and Tricks of the Trade.

Coia lives in London, where he continues his career with Smooth Radio, Radio Jackie and BBC Radio Berkshire.
