Ross Murdoch


1994 -

Swimmer. Born in Balloch (West Dunbartonshire), Murdoch was educated at Balfron High School, and the University of Stirling, where he has been studying sport and exercise science. He surprised himself and the pundits when he won the gold medal in the 200m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, in a British record time. He followed this with a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke, again at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, setting a personal best in that race. He gained three further bronze medals in the 200m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and the 4 × 100m medley relay at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022.
